I live in the rural area of Newark known as the Whiton area near Powellville with my wonderful husband Mickey. We are members of Spence Baptist Church where I've been for about 15 years (as of 2008) . I sing in the choir, been a youth leader there as well as another church prior to my membership with Spence. Have also been a Sunday School teacher, am part of our music ministry along with various other ministries within our church family. Have a great love for teaching, however that is only secondary to singing. The following is a brief synopsis of my personal testimony.
Though I grew up not realizing what a special relationship my mother had with the Lord, her devotion to His word taught me a lot, despite my lack of awareness at the time. She passed away when I was 14 and like many teenagers do, I strayed from the church as I had perceived it as a child as well as the way I was raised. I may have put God on a shelf for a while, however, He was far from being finished with me. My captivity by Satan could serve as a great witnessing tool. Later when the kids started to come, I stopped turning a deaf ear and slowly began to listen more and more to what His plans were for me. Surely I have more growing to do as I walk this narrow road, yet I know if I keep my eyes on Him, He will lead me down those paths of righteousness. There are many exciting things to explore in His name and the closer I get to God, the more eager I am to learn. I thank God for my many gifts, especially that of music and voice and I gladly serve and thank Him as I sing with God's Country Crossroads. May we help to save some of the lost and take them with us to be in His Glory!
